Services » Back Pain-Lower

Back pain is the second the second most common reason patients see a physician, next to upper-respiratory infections. An estimated 80 percent of all Americans suffer from back pain at some point in their lives with 10 percent experiencing frequent bouts of lower back pain.

Chiropractic treatment for low back pain is most often a simple adjustment of the lower lumbar vertebrae and pelvis to re-establish normal motion and position of bones and joints. Effective and less costly than alternative treatments, chiropractic care re-establishes normal vertebral motion and position of the spine vs. using muscle relaxants, pain killers and bed rest which only mask the problem. At Higher Health Chiropractic, we practice the best of Eastern and Western medicine to arrive at the optimum treatment for each patient's individual condition.

Subluxations
Subluxations in the lumbar spine at the transition between the lower spine and sacrum can result in debilitating low back pain. Fortunately, patients experience significant pain reduction almost immediately after treatment.

Disc Herniations
A herniated disc does not automatically doom you to suffer from low back pain interminably. Almost half of all adults have at least one bulging or herniated disc and experience no pain from it. Yet, the intense pain that radiates from a herniated disc to other parts of the body can be debilitating. Once a disc herniates, it rarely, if ever, completely heals. Regular chiropractic care can often deter further deterioration.

Sprains, Strains and Spasms
If you sit at your desk all week and once the weekend arrives, push yourself physically, you’re more likely to end up flat on your back than not. Overworking the muscles or ligaments of the low back can lead to small tears in the tissues, which then become painful, swollen and tight.

Stress
Your body responds to stress by increasing your blood pressure and heart rate, flooding your body with stress hormones and tightening up your muscles. Chronic stress tension can cause your muscles to become sore, weak and loaded with trigger points. If suffer from low back pain caused by stress, we recommend that you exercise—deep breathing, as well as participating in regular exercise.
