When grocery shopping, take the time to read the labels. Nutrition Facts can be found on every frozen food product, every canned food and on every jar or plastic wrap. Eliminate these five ingredients you’re your diet and you’ll have gone a long way toward being healthier inside out.

When reading the labels note that the “serving size” reference for number of calories and grams of nutrients may differ from the portions you’re used to eating.

Nutrients are daily values are the reference numbers that are set by the government based on current nutrition recommendations. The percentage (%Daily Value) shows how a food fits into a 2,000 calorie/day diet. Each product lists the ingredients from largest to smallest amount by weight, the food shown at the top of the list making up the majority of the food product/package.
